What new terms have been added in the latest Emtree release?

Last updated on February 14, 2024

We update Emtree three times a year and all Embase records are updated at this time to reflect any changes in Emtree. Scroll down to see all releases from 2013 onwards. View our latest terms and release notes.

Emtree covers all new International Non-Proprietary Names (INNs) for drugs registered with the World Health Organization (WHO), as well as all US Adopted Names and NDAs (New Drug Approvals) listed by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) and European Medicines Agency (EMA). Emtree also covers terms for drugs, diseases and biological functions, medical devices and medical procedures including, traditional Chinese practices, study types, and more. Learn more on Emtree.

All new Emtree terms will be backposted on Embase.com to bring the indexing of older records in line with the current terminology (many new terms having previously been indexed in Embase as candidate terms).

Please note: If you use explosion searches to search Emtree, we suggest that you take a moment to check the Emtree structure, especially for drugs, diseases and devices, to ensure that your search is optimized to your needs.
